When we initially released our Facebook research on over 1,000 Fan Pages last month, we didn’t think the rivalry would heat up so quickly. As several schools blew past 50,000 fans we looked towards the next big goal….. 100,000 Fans. To Ignite the Fuego some more in this rivalry, we added some stakes to the race.
100,000 pennies.
1 penny for every fan to the school who reaches 100,000 Fans first. After a greuling race in the past 8 weeks, Texas A&M claimed the victory, reaching 100,000 fans a mere 93 seconds before LSU surpassed the mark. It took a tremendous rally from the Aggie Nation to pull the victory off; over 17,000 fans joined the page in the 34 hours leading up to the finale. An average of one fan every 7 seconds for 34 hours was necessary to pull it off. As fans from both sides rallied towards the finish line, both schools benefited from gaining nearly 20,000 fans in the past week. CONGRATS to Texas A&M, who will be provided 100,000 pennies from BlueFuego to the scholarship of their choice.
